About 2024 Calls for Submission: Melt Studio and Gallery

Melt Studio + Gallery is located just outside Picton in a historical air force barrack at the newly developed Base31, in the former Camp Picton. The gallery is managed and run by Canadian encaustic artist Susan Wallis and is the home to her encaustic working studio. Susan is thrilled to be in this wonderful historical space and looks forward to showcasing her work in the gallery space alongside a selection of other talented artists and artisans. The gallery’s mandate is to foster and enhance public awareness, understanding, and appreciation for the positive cultural significance of the visual arts by showcasing all levels of visual artists and artisans in our exhibition.

We are currently accepting applications from interested artists to exhibit work in either our group shows or rental galleries. Please visit our website for more detailed information about open calls and other upcoming group shows.

Call For Submission: Renewal

Artists may submit up to a maximum of 3 pieces for jurying to this upcoming group show. The fee to submit is $25.00. All works must be for sale and if sold are subject to 40% commission. Please note that all submissions will be acknowledged upon receipt, but only selected artists will be notified of acceptance by the specified date.

Renewal

In Spring, the ice thaws and new life springs up everywhere the sun touches. As nature wakes up, so do we, entering into new stages of growth and transition. Each year, Melt Studio + Gallery opens our season with the Renewal group juried art show. Works in this show are carefully selected for their relevance to revitalization and new beginnings. Find a renewed sense of hope after a long winter in our Renewal exhibit.

Deadline for email submission: April 15, 2024
Acceptance notification sent by: May 1st, 2024
Deadline to deliver work to the gallery: May 10th, 2024

How to Apply:

If you're interested in applying to be a part of Renewal, please send us your proposal for what piece(s) you would like to display in the upcoming group show. Please provide title, size, medium and price for each piece submitted for consideration. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Submit your application via email to info@meltstudiogallery.com with "Artist Submission- Your name, Name of show” in the subject line.

Please be sure that your application includes your name, and complete contact information: phone number, email address, website, link to your Instagram account if applicable and photos of work for consideration.

The $25.00 submission fee can be paid via e-transfer to susanwallis@kos.net.

Rental Galleries

Melt currently has two rental galleries available for rent to artists for solo exhibitions for a flat base rental fee of $650 + hst: the FOCUS and FORMAT galleries. The intention behind these project rooms is to provide and cultivate a supportive environment for the artists to showcase their work in an inexpensive gallery space. Melt Gallery will provide the gallery attendant, handle client inquiries and transactions and promote the Artist's work on our website and through our social media platforms. Duo exhibitions will be considered on a per case basis and are subject to an extra surcharge on the rental fee. Any sales made during the duration of the exhibition will not be subject to commission. While we encourage artists to exhibit artworks and editions that can be for sale, it is not mandatory to exhibit in either of our rental galleries. There is no fee to submit.

Please send your detailed proposal with images to info@meltstudiogallery.com with “Rental Gallery” in the subject line. Please specify which room (FOCUS or FORMAT) you would prefer or if you have no preference. Include links to your website and social media platforms, your full contact information, and at least 3 choices from the 2024 show dates listed on our website in order of preference.
