About 29th Annual Violence Awareness And Random Acts of Kindness Week

This program was created in loving memory of Mark Fyke an 18 year old Nicholson student from Belleville ON, whose life was taken while vacationing in Daytona Beach Florida on March 15, 1996, due to a senseless act of violence. Our program is offered to 59 area elementary schools and 14 high schools reaching over 26,000 students, as well as the greater Hastings and Prince Edward County communities.
Monday March 3rd Community Candle Light Vigil
Please take a moment from home to light a candle and observe a Minute of Silence at 7:00 pm in remembrance of all victims of violence.
Tuesday March 4th Kindness when you least expect it!
Kindness Crews will be dropping off kindness to various locations across the greater Quinte, Centre Hastings and Prince Edward County Communities.
Wednesday March 5th Blue Ribbon of Hope Day
Everyone is encouraged to prominently display their Blue Ribbons of Hope and if you do not have one, please wear blue to symbolize kindness.
Thursday March 6th Thankful Thursday
Take some time out of your day to text, message or call and thank someone who has touched your life with their kindness.
Friday March 7th Friendly Friday
Surprise a family member, friend or neighbour with an inspirational note, flowers, an email, a card or some other act of kindness to let them know how much you appreciate them.
Saturday March 8th Selection of the Kindness Citizen of the Year Award
Nominate a friend, family member, coworker, neighbour or community member who has touched you by their kindness. For more details and online ballot please visit www.varak.ca.
Sunday March 9th Random Acts of Kindness Day
Any act of kindness, no matter how small, can have the greatest impact and proves that angels are truly among us.
