About Baxter Field Trip: Aerial Arts for Ages 6 - 14 with NorthFIRE Circus
No matter what your age - we've all wanted to run away to the Circus! Now you can!
In this class the kids will learn silks, aerial hoop, trapeze and hammock. Kids will be divided by age and learn skills specific to their strengths.
Ages 6 to 8
Children will be introduced to many skills in a loop or knot
Beginning with fun warm ups, stretching and preparing for going upside down
Getting used to being suspended in the air, going upside down and building strength
Children are spotted and led individually through each new skill
Balancing skills, juggling, hula hooping and working on coordination and movement
Ages 9 to 14
Some loop or knot skills
They will learn to climb, foot lock sequence
Conditioning drills are implemented to ensure proper muscle development.
Tuesdays, beginning April 8th.
5:00 PM - 6:15 PM @ St. Andrews, Picton.
Runs April 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, May 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th.
$230 for 8 weeks.
About your Instructors
Isabella Hoops aka Kiki
Isabella Hoops aka Kiki is an actor, singer and dancer. She spent 5 years in Edmonton performing in children’s musicals, touring shows across Alberta and B.C., and performing in the Edmonton Street Performers Festival. Owner of NorthFIRE Circus, Kiki has been performing and teaching hula hooping all across Canada for over 14 years and in 2015 she won the CanSpin Award for best hula hooper of the year!She is a diverse circus performer: from fire performing, to mesmerizing LED light shows, clowning and kids entertainment, Isabella Hoops does it all!
Rhapsody Blue
Rhapsody Blue is a circus performer, playwright and choreographer. Rhapsody has taught and performed at events and festivals from Edmonton to New Orleans. Her original circus-fusion plays have been featured in Fringe Festivals around the country, and in the Toronto Festival of Original Theatre. Currently based in Kingston, Rhapsody previously served as Director of Production and President of the Ottawa Burlesque Festival. Trained in an inclusive and disability-positive model of circus instruction, Rhapsody embraces the creative and explorative powers of movement that exist in all bodies. Rhapsody currently serves as Lead Instructor of The Rouge Studio of Dance in Kingston, and Artistic Director of Limestone City Burlesque. She has previously taught at Iron X Fitness and most recently at Kingston Circus Arts, where she coached students of all ages and levels, including the Youth Performance Team. Rhapsody is passionate about bringing the soul-affirming magic of movement to audiences from all walks of life.
