About Books on Film: Midnight's Children

A special screening with Director Deepa Mehta.
The Picton Gazette presents The Books on Film Club, in association with the Regent Theatre. It’s a book club with a twist.

In the run up to the Regent’s coming Film Festival devoted to the art of adaptations on film, this Club explores a curated selection of books on film.

The Books on Film Club is a series of monthly screenings and book-club style discussions. Club participants will experience the film screened at the Regent one week and an intimate salon-style discussion over wine and cheese hosted at the Picton Gazette the following week.

Celebrate Scorsese in January with The Age of Innocence, paired with Edith Wharton’s novel of the same name. Beat the winter blues with Meryl Streep as Julia Child in Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia, paired with Julie Powell’s book of the same name - because butter makes everything better. And dive into Deepa Mehta’s adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s acclaimed novel Midnight’s Children in March.

The next series of 3 films will be announced in March. Stay tuned for details.
