About Call for Public Art: Wilkinson Memorial Park Mural Project
Prince Edward County’s Public Art Program is looking for proposals for an exterior mural on the North Marysburgh Community Centre, located in Wilkinson Memorial Park. The selected artist will work in consultation with the local community, including members of the North Marysburgh Recreation Committee, long-time residents of the area, the Public Art Coordinator and other interest holders.
Background:
Wilkinson Memorial Park is a community park in Waupoos, Prince Edward County. The land was a donation from the Wilkinson family, a long-time farming family in the community. Surrounded by farmland, this rural park is an important green space used regularly by residents and visitors alike. It includes a baseball diamond, pickleball/tennis courts and a playground. There are Osprey nests in the park for nesting season. Upgrades are being made to the park including a footpath and some plantings. The North Marysburgh Town Hall is also located in this park, offering a meeting place for residents as well as community-based programming from yoga classes to euchre nights. The street-facing wall of the Hall is the site for this mural with potential for some elements to wrap around the East and West facing walls.
