About Highway to the Sky: Women in Aviation

The ProBus Club of Belleville welcomes members and visitors to a special presentation by aviator Lola Reid Allin. Lola’s personally narrated PowerPoint, Highway to the Sky: Women in Aviation, chronicles significant achievements by female pilots since France’s Raymonde de la Roche made history when she became the world’s first licensed female pilot on March 8, 1910. These include, but are not limited to, achievements in record-setting, air races, and all-female flight crews. In her role as co-lead of the Education & Outreach Committee, First Canadian Chapter, Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots, Lola discusses the importance of role models and mentorship.
In addition, the presentation highlights career paths in aviation, discusses the worldwide impact of the gender gap on the number of female commercial pilots, recommends academic texts and training facilities for pilots, as well as biographies and memoirs by famous female aviators.
