About Kids Sculpture Studio w/ Michael Amar
An Arts Studio for Ages 10 to 16.
This art studio is designed to introduce students to sculpture, 3D, and drawing.
Students will be encouraged to develop their own concepts while learning about the fundamentals of sculpture and 3D design using clay, wood, plaster, wire and paper. They will learn to model, shape, cut and carve with elements of Art History introduced throughout as reference points for each segment of the workshop.
Engaging discussions of images from art history will also be an essential part of the course.
4 Saturdays.
May 2, 9, & 16 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Extended last class, May 23 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
$160 per participant*. Due to the nature of this program, it is suitable for Ages 10 - 16.
*Includes all materials including clay & firing.
To help us keep registration costs low, this program requires a minimum of 8 children to run.
About Your Instructor
Michael Amar
Michael Amar's practice in visual arts is in sculpture, drawing and painting. His long career as an artist, reaching back to the seventies is intertwined with teaching sculpture, drawing, life drawing as well as exhibiting. He has taught at a wide-range of elite educational institutions, including Central Technical School, York University, Loyalist, and St. Lawrence College.
In 2008 Michael retired from teaching to devote his time to his practice.
He presently lives on a farm in Marysville. Gardening, landscaping, writing poetry, planting tree seedlings and doing repairs on an old old barn are also ongoing daily activities.
