LATE SPRING SHOW GALLERY 121
This month at 121, we welcome four new vibrant and talented artists to our membership: Terry Culbert, Sarah Palmer, Sarah Winn, and Debby Smith. Please join them and other members for our Late Spring Show from April 21st to May 30th. A reception will be held on Saturday, April 25th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In attendance will be our Guest Artist, Mark Algar and Featured Member Artist, Marta Mouka.
Mark Algar, based in Belleville, has exhibited his art in the US and Canada. With a foundation in mathematics and computer science, he works in various media including boats in bottles, watercolor, sketching, weaving, and for this show primarily oil painting. His expressive oil works often depict local landscape as well as everyday people that reflect moments and tell stories of quiet or community life. Recently Mark’s art has shown at the Quinte Arts Council and Prince Edward County.
Marta Mouka is a multi-award-winning textile artist based in Tweed, Ontario. Drawing upon her graphic design training in the Czech Republic, Marta’s work is distinguished by strong composition and refined aesthetic sensibilities. Her practice centers on traditional techniques, including the development of natural dyes and the process of botanical monoprint (prints created by pressing leaves, flowers, and plant materials onto silk to transfer their distinctive shapes and colors) resulting in vibrant, nature-inspired designs. Marta promotes sustainable art practices and fosters appreciation for local flora, enriching the creative community. Her acclaimed textile pieces are exhibited in galleries, solo shows, and reside in private collections throughout Canada.
