"Letters to Vimy": A Multimedia Staged Reading

Join us for a multimedia staged reading of "Letters to Vimy" by historian Orland French, an imaginative, evocative and often very funny play about the events leading up to the attack on Vimy Ridge on Easter morning, 1917. Newly arrived on the battlefield in France, young Private Oscar French is learning how to deal with a war that's all-too-real when he's suddenly faced with something that can't possibly be real at all. He starts receiving letters from someone who claims to be his nephew...and they're postmarked a hundred years into the future. No wonder he yearns for his life back on the farm in Waverley, Ontario. For Oscar and his pal Joe, dealing with rats in the trenches, dodging German bullets, and visiting the red-light houses in town, it's hard to believe that one day they'll be considered nation-builders.
