About On an Even Keel: Karole Marois

“My paintings focus on the power and beauty of water. I am especially fascinated by our profound emotional connection to the water’s energy. Combining my lifelong love of water with my passion for depicting the human form, I use transparency to express the idea of nature connectedness. This series in progress, started in recent years, is inspired by sailing trips on Lake Ontario. “On an Even Keel” explores the concept of equilibrium, using the horizon as a metaphor for stability. Literally, the expression means that a boat is balanced. Figuratively, it is used to describe someone or something that is progressing smoothly and steadily, without any sudden changes”
