About PEC Jazz Festival Presents the Virginia MacDonald and Todd Marcus Quintet

Virginia MacDonald is an award winning, powerful new voice in Canadian and International jazz scenes. Born and raised in Toronto, Virginia began playing clarinet at the age of seven. She has since established herself as an in-demand band leader, side woman, and composer. Virginia tours internationally with her own group as well as with the venerable Canadian Jazz Collective which also features her father, saxophone phenom, Kirk MacDonald.

Todd Marcus has been voted a Rising Young Star on clarinet in Downbeat Magazine’s Annual Critics Poll since 2013. He was a featured artist in the 2017 Jazz Tales Festival in Egypt, 2015 Cairo Jazz Festival, and in 2005 at the 1st World Bass Clarinet Convention in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Virginia's quintet will also feature Lucian Gray (guitar), Duncan Hopkins (bass), and Ian Wright (drums).
