About Textile Treasures - A 4-week Creative Reuse Workshop with Bethany Garner

Textile and fibre-focused artist educator Bethany Garner is back by popular demand for a brand new 4-week creative re-use workshop! In this creative adventure, participants will discover the freedom and joy of turning scraps of fibre/cloth, yarn, felting fibres, and threads into artful textile treasures. (You can bring your own "stash" of these items, and Bethany can also share some from her trove.) In the first class, students will spend the afternoon with grid paper and pencil in hand, playing with ideas and bits and pieces. They will create several original designs incorporating a series of familiar art quilt patterns and layouts provided by Bethany, and/or from their original sketches. They will then begin the process of developing these designs into block components, and start stitching. For the remaining three classes, participants will continue to play with designs and stitching techniques, ultimately creating several small pieces of art to share with friends or keep for themselves. No prior experience required; this offering will provide a learning experience for everyone from beginner to seasoned artists!
