Learn a cool new skill before going back to school!

This Winter Break Baxter is hosting two of our most popular programs.

Run away to the Circus with Kiki / Isabella Hoops from NorthFIRE Circus & Opal of the Peterborough Academy of Circus Arts (PACA). These two one-day camps will introduce your child(ren) to Hula Hooping, Juggling, Poi, Balancing, Aerial Arts and more!

Learn how to Bake from Scratch with Sharon Hart, part of our Kids in the Kitchen series! Creating magic in the kitchen is one of the best art forms and a great way to show friends and family how much you care. Who doesn't love warm cookies right from the oven! Your child(ren) will spend the day learning about recipes, the importance of measuring, and how to create a few tasty baked goods.

Two Day Camps to Choose From:

Mini Circus Camp with Isabella Hoops & Peterborough Academy of Circus Arts @ Baxter Arts Centre.

Thursday January 4th. 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Ideal for Ages 5+. $55 per day, per child.

Friday January 5th. 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Ideal for Ages 5+. $55 per day, per child.

Kids in the Kitchen: From Scratch with Sharon Hart @ Bloomfield United Church (272 Main Street, Bloomfield)

Friday January 5th. 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Ideal for Ages 9+. $85 per day, per child.

Please pack a lunch and two healthy snacks for each day camp. For Mini Circus Camp, children should wear comfortable clothing and have long hair tied back. For From Scratch, closed-toed shoes must be worn by all participants.

About Your Instructors

Isabella Hoops aka Kiki

Isabella Hoops aka Kiki is an actor, singer and dancer. She spent 5 years in Edmonton performing in children’s musicals, touring shows across Alberta and B.C., and performing in the Edmonton Street Performers Festival. Owner of NorthFIRE Circus, Kiki has been performing and teaching hula hooping all across Canada for over 14 years and in 2015 she won the CanSpin Award for best hula hooper of the year! She is a diverse circus performer: from fire performing, to mesmerizing LED light shows, clowning and kids entertainment, Isabella Hoops does it all!

Jennifer Elchuk Aks Opal

Opal has been producing and performing as an interdisciplinary artist Peterborough/Nogojiwanong- since 2006. Her current project is a Canada Council funded project with her unique apparatus, the aerial canoe. She has played an integral role in the Peterborough Academy of Circus Arts (PACA) since it was founded (2014) and is a graduate of Circus Instructor training at the National Circus School. Opal's favourite circus discipline is aerial arts, but she also loves coaching stilt-walking, flow arts and acro.

Sharon Hart

As a Child and Youth Advocate for many years, Sharon has created and delivered healthy relationship programs to students in grades one to nine in both the public and private school systems. She believes having a healthy relationship with oneself is the foundation to developing strong connections with others.
